2011-2012 Monte Jade Executive Mentorship Program: Mentoring for Career Advancement
Starts in October 2011
Asian Americans represent one of the fastest growing segments of the professional workforce in the US. While many have found success with high-paying professional positions, as a group it often remains under-represented in the corporate boardroom and senior management ranks.
The Monte Jade Executive Mentorship program is the first of its kind in the Silicon Valley targeted towards supporting Asian-American professionals to advance into executive and leadership positions. It does so by helping participants:
- Build personal relationships with some of the most accomplished Asian American leaders in Silicon Valley.
- Learn from the successes of other Asian Americans in a wide range of industries, from venture capital, high-tech, to entrepreneurship.
- Get coaching and practical advice that could make an immediate impact.
Each participant is assigned to a mentor who is a leader in the business community and participates in several activities over a six-month period. Each year we line up an exceptional list of mentors, which have included:
- Ms. Carol Wong Carpenter, Executive General Manager at Trend Micro
- Mr. Nelson Chan, Former CEO at Magellan
- Mr. Wes Hom, Former VP at IBM
- Mr. Buck Gee, Former GM & VP of Marketing at Cisco
- Dr. Arthur Lin, Head of Communications Technology at Apple
- Ms. Arlene Pao, CEO at Focaltron/ GolfAchieve
- Mr. Robert Chen, President and CEO at RAE Systems
- Mr. Ron Yu, Former VP of Marketing at Kapow Technology
- Mr. Curtis Mo, Partner at DLA Piper LLP
- Mr. Lawrence Tse. VP of Engineering Inphi
- Mr. Edwin Yeh, CEO of St. John's Capital Group
A primary differentiator of the MJAA Executive Mentorship Program is that the participants will have multiple opportunities to learn from executive mentors, discuss career development topics within small groups, and broaden their networks.
